The Museum of Typography in Chania is a one-of-a-kind cultural gem dedicated entirely to the art and history of typography. Founded in 2005 by Yannis Garedakis and his wife Eleni, and located in the Souda Industrial Park, it offers visitors a deep dive into the evolution of printing and written communication. It is no coincidence that Mr. Garedakis is also the founder of the renowned local newspaper “Chaniotika Nea”, a publication deeply connected to the region’s print history.

The museum’s exhibits are spread across multiple sections, each offering a unique perspective on typography and its related fields:
- Typography: Two main wings house an extensive display of printing presses, tools, the binding area, information on the evolution of printing, etc.
- History of Writing: Dedicated to written communication.
- Photography: A space with vintage cameras, accessories, and photography-related artifacts.
- Rare Publications: Old and rare works of Greek and foreign origin.
- Contemporary Art Books: Created by contemporary artists.
- Library: The museum’s library is a treasure trove of rare Greek and international books, old newspapers, typewriters, polygraphs, maps, stamps, and other artifacts that highlight the importance of typography in everyday life
