Why visit Domata Beach?
This hidden gem offers a mix of rugged beauty and ultimate relaxation. It’s unorganized and isolated, ideal for nature lovers and adventure seekers, but not the best option for families with young children due to the challenging access.
The beach features soft, golden sand mixed with small pebbles. The stunning rock formations create a unique landscape, offering some natural shade during certain times of the day.
Activities & Beach Amenities
Since Domata is a remote and unspoiled beach, there are no amenities such as restaurants, shops, or organized activities. Visitors should bring their food, water, and essentials.
However, the beach is perfect for:

How to Reach Domata from Chania
The easiest and safest way to get to Domata Beach Crete is by boat. Drive from Chania to Chora Sfakion (about 1.5 – 2 hours) and then hire a private boat or water taxi to reach it. Private boats are also available from Agia Roumeli Village.
Important Note: There are no roads leading directly to Domata Beach!
Tips for visiting
- Bring plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection, as there are no facilities.
- Check the weather conditions before visiting, as rough seas can make boat access difficult.
